Gold Coast to Close Their Poker Room

The Gold Coast Poker Room will fold Sunday, January 30th at 11:00PM.

It's never good when more people lose their jobs. I'd imagine that we'll pick up a percentage of their regular players while the balance will move to the Orleans. Those who relocate to the Orleans likely will do so because they prefer to chase badbeats. Those who chose to play across the street at our place will likely do so because it is just that....across the street and geographically convenient.

I played $3-6 LHE with a $4-8 kill there yesterday. By my second hand someone had been tossed out. I don't know the details of the barring, and I guess it doesn't really matter since the room is closing in a few days. I will say that the atmosphere seemed hostile. I played perhaps 2 hours, sucked out on river many times and lost the biggest pot of the day with a flopped set of Qs to a rivered gutshot straight. I cashed out $25 down and I figure I toked about that much.

In order to get rid of their jackpot money before they close, they are giving away $400 per hour (4 $100 drawings) every day from 10AM until midnight.

I can't help but wonder which poker room will be next to throw in the towel.
